How to Delete a Task or Task Group
In the PayTask timekeeping service you can delete individual tasks and entire task groups. Deleted items are moved to the trash, from where they can be restored or permanently deleted.
Deleting a Single Task
To delete a task:
- Open the task editor
- Expand the task group containing the desired task
- Click the 🗑️ button next to the task
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog box
The task will be moved to the trash. Positions of the remaining tasks in the group will be automatically recalculated.
Deleting a Task Group
To delete a task group along with all tasks it contains:
- Open the task editor
- Find the desired task group
- Click the 🗑️ Move to Trash button under the group name
- Confirm the deletion in the dialog box
Important: When deleting a task group, all tasks it contains are also moved to the trash. Restoring the group automatically restores all its tasks.
Trash of Deleted Items
All deleted tasks and task groups are stored in the trash. The number of deleted items is displayed on the 🗑️ Trash button in the task editor.
Viewing Trash Contents
To open the trash:
- Open the task editor
- Click the 🗑️ Trash button
In the trash you will see:
- Deleted task groups — groups that were deleted together with all their tasks
- Individually deleted tasks — tasks deleted from active (not deleted) groups
Restoring from Trash
You can restore any task or task group from the trash.
Restoring a Task Group
When restoring a task group, all its deleted tasks are automatically restored:
- Open the trash
- Find the desired task group
- Click the ♻️ Restore button
- Confirm the restoration
Restoring an Individual Task
To restore an individual task:
- Open the trash
- Find the desired task (in a deleted group or in the list of individually deleted tasks)
- Click the ♻️ button next to the task
- Confirm the restoration
Important: If you are restoring a task that belongs to a deleted group, the group will also be automatically restored.
Permanent Deletion
You can permanently delete a task or task group from the trash. This action cannot be undone — the items will be completely removed from the system.
Permanently Deleting a Task Group
When permanently deleting a task group, all tasks it contains are also permanently deleted:
- Open the trash
- Find the desired task group
- Click the ❌ Delete Permanently button
- Confirm the permanent deletion
Permanently Deleting a Task
To permanently delete an individual task:
- Open the trash
- Find the desired task
- Click the ❌ or 🗑️ button next to the task
- Confirm the permanent deletion
Attention: Permanent deletion cannot be undone. All data about the task or task group will be irreversibly lost, but the execution history and payments will be saved.
Features of Working with the Trash
- Deleted tasks and task groups are not displayed in the main list of the task editor
- Restored tasks and task groups return to their original state with all settings
- For demo accounts, deleting tasks and groups is unavailable
Recommendations
- Use the trash for temporary deletion of irrelevant tasks — they can always be restored
- Permanently delete only those items that you are sure will no longer be needed
- Regularly check the trash and clean it of unnecessary items to maintain order in the task accounting system
- Before permanently deleting a group, ensure that all its tasks are indeed no longer needed
